The Senior Instrument Technician is responsible for performing instrumentation maintenance and calibration activities within their area of expertise. This role ensures all instrumentation work is executed in strict adherence to safety regulations, operational procedures, and industry standards. Focused on precision and reliability, the technician plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and functionality of control systems and instrumentation, thereby supporting safe and efficient plant operations.
Reporting Line:
Reports to the Instrument Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
✓ Perform on site the Maintenance operations during normal shift and Emergency which are placed under its team responsibility
✓ With Instrument Maintenance team assists specialists working under Specific Maintenance Contracts
✓ Ensures that HSE regulations are respected (especially procedures related to Work Permits), as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations placed under its responsibility,
✓ Ensure that all Maintenance and repairs to plant and equipment are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in strict compliance with operating procedures and any relevant statutory legislation in order to maintain all such equipment in sound and safe operating condition.
✓ Lead the execution of the preventive and corrective maintenance on all field instrumentation and process control loops as per maintenance procedures and troubleshooting of instrumentation and process control system problems and reinstating the system to ensure the integrity of the process control for ensuring continuous and smooth operations of the production and processing facilities.
✓ Lead the Implementation of regular maintenance and inspection on CPF and Wells Instruments to ensure an effective Plant Optimization and provide maximum value for operation.
✓ Lead the functional and calibration checks of Fire & Gas and Emergency Shutdown Systems/equipment to ensure operability and availability the safeguarding systems.
✓ Lead the maintenance PSV / control valves calibration and controller tuning to ensure the optimum control of process as per maintenance procedures.
✓ Lead instrumentation & control Systems maintenance activities (preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance) in cohesive, efficient & safe manner to ensure maximum plant uptime and to support sustainable production
✓ Lead the execution of maintenance and repair works and inspection activities for all instrumentation & control Systems in the facilities not limited to Equipment control systems, Fiscal Metering System, Fire & Gas System (FGS), Emergency Shutdown System (ESD), Instrument Air Compressors and Field Devices.
✓ Write the technical reports related to Instrument Maintenance field,
✓ Monitor the functioning of systems placed under its responsibility,
✓ Ensures that the transfer of knowledge by mentoring occurs properly within its teams, and actively participates in this activity
✓ Participate actively and with positive interactions to the Nationalization process for both Senior Ugandan Technician and Ugandan Technician
✓ Coordinate with Trainers for Competencies gap analysis and appropriate Training response
✓ Take in charge the systems under its responsibility in case of breakdown until correct operation status.
The holder of this position must have the following qualifications:
✓ Instrument Maintenance Technical Diploma or Certificate, or equivalent education.
✓ 5-8 years’ experience in the maintenance field on oil and gas production installations,
✓ A good knowledge of the process of oil and gas treatment, installations and a thorough knowledge of the equipment used in oil and gas treatment installations
✓ Specific professional knowledge: CMMS experience and know-how
✓ Ability to lead and motivate multi-national teams,
✓ Pride in its work, ability to maintain good relations with colleagues and others,
✓ Physical ability to work on offshore installations in the climatic conditions of the site,
✓ Working language: English
